As the sun set over the lush greenery of State House, casting a warm orange glow over the grounds, I stood waiting to greet a familiar figure. Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, an old friend, was about to arrive for a tour of the premises.

We had known each other for many years, having collaborated on various regional initiatives, and I was looking forward to showing him around.

After a successful joint EAC-SADC meeting on the restoration of peace and stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo, we had a chance to catch up.

As we walked through the halls and gardens of State House, I pointed out various landmarks and shared stories about the history and significance of the place.

President Kenyatta was keenly interested in the architecture and design of the buildings, asking insightful questions about the inspiration behind certain features.

We strolled through the manicured lawns, taking in the vibrant colors of the tropical flowers and the soothing sounds of birds chirping in the trees.

As we walked, our conversation turned to the recent meeting and the progress being made towards peace and stability in the region. We discussed the challenges that still lay ahead, but also the opportunities for growth and development.

After the tour, we sat down in a quiet corner, reflecting on our time together and the memories we had shared over the years. It was a pleasure to reconnect with my old friend, and I was grateful for the opportunity to show him around State House.

The evening drew to a close, and President Kenyatta prepared to leave. As we parted ways, I looked forward to our next meeting and the chance to continue our work together on regional issues. ‎
