Hon. Diana Mutasingwa Launches UGX168.3 Million School Upgrade in Buikwe

Hon. Diana Mutasingwa, the Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President, has officially launched a transformative infrastructure development initiative at Luwombo CU Primary School in Luwombo village, Kitazi parish, Buikwe subcounty. The project, valued at UGX168.3 million, aims to significantly improve the school’s learning environment and overall well-being of its students and staff.

The comprehensive upgrade includes vital enhancements such as roofing, plastering, electrical wiring, and power connection. These developments are set to provide safer and more comfortable classrooms conducive to effective learning. In addition, the project features the installation of a 10,000-liter rainwater harvesting tank, a step forward in promoting access to clean and sustainable water within the school premises.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Mutasingwa emphasized the government’s commitment to improving rural education and creating equitable learning opportunities for children in underserved areas. “Education is the backbone of our nation’s future. We must invest not just in books and teachers, but also in the very spaces where our children learn,” she stated.

The improvements are expected to not only enhance classroom conditions but also boost hygiene standards and contribute to better health outcomes through improved access to clean water. With these upgrades, Luwombo CU Primary School is poised to become a model for rural educational development in Buikwe and beyond.

Local leaders, parents, and teachers welcomed the initiative, noting its long-term benefits for the community. The project is part of broader efforts by the government to modernize educational infrastructure and ensure that every child has a safe and enabling environment to thrive academically.

As work begins on this ambitious undertaking, the residents of Luwombo look forward to a future where quality education is no longer a privilege, but a guaranteed right for every child.
