Eng. Denis Sabiiti Bamwoya, former Rubanda West MP and respected engineer, passed away suddenly in March 2025 at the age of 60—just as he seemed to be recovering from cancer. He had recently completed treatment and was attending follow-up appointments when he suffered a fatal blood clot, a complication that can strike even after cancer appears to be in remission.
Known for his calm, thoughtful leadership, Sabiiti served in Parliament from 2016 to 2021 and previously held a senior role in Uganda’s Ministry of Works and Transport. He was not a loud politician, but one who quietly pushed for better infrastructure and rural development—earning deep respect in both technical and political circles.
Though he stepped away from politics after 2021, his impact continued to be felt in his home district and beyond. His unexpected passing is a painful reminder of the hidden risks cancer survivors face, and of the quiet public servants whose influence outlives their time in office.
