CAF Finally Approves Namboole to Host Matches After 8-Day Inspection

After years of waiting, Uganda has reason to celebrate — CAF has officially approved Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, to host international matches again. This follows an intensive 8-day inspection by CAF officials, who confirmed that the stadium now meets the required standards.

Closed since 2020 due to poor infrastructure, Namboole has undergone major renovations led by the UPDF Engineering Brigade. The upgrades include a new natural grass pitch, improved lighting, revamped dressing rooms, and better fan facilities.

FUFA President Moses Magogo welcomed the news, saying it’s a huge win for Ugandan football. “We’re finally home. The Cranes can play where they belong — in front of their people.”

With the greenlight from CAF, Uganda can now host its upcoming World Cup and AFCON qualifiers at Namboole. Fans are eagerly awaiting the stadium’s reopening, expected to feature a high-profile match to mark the occasion.

It’s more than a stadium reopening it’s a moment of national pride.
