Fred Nyanzi, Brother of NUP’s Bobi Wine, Acquires Shs500m House in Kawempe South

By Dean Lubowa Saava

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the National Unity Platform (NUP), Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, the elder brother of party principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine), has purchased a Shs500m house in Kawempe South.

According to sources within the party, Nyanzi bought the house from a businessman in Mukalazi Zone, Kawempe Two, in Kawempe Division, Kampala.

The Purchase

The businessman, who was reportedly in urgent need of funds to salvage his other businesses, had recently rebuilt the house after demolishing the old one, which he felt did not match his status. Sources claim that Nyanzi was the only available buyer who could meet the required amount.

Nyanzi’s Boast

After acquiring the house, Nyanzi allegedly boasted to his supporters that he had silenced his critics who had been accusing him of being an outsider in the area due to his lack of a permanent residence there.

Despite owning several businesses and offices in Kawempe South, where he intends to contest for the Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming elections, Nyanzi felt the need to prove his commitment to the area.

Source of Funds

When questioned about the source of Nyanzi’s funds, given that he had recently completed building a multibillion-shilling home in Kyebando Central, Kawempe North, sources revealed that Nyanzi had received money from individuals he appointed to lead the party’s grassroots mobilization structures before his brother Bobi Wine relieved him of his duties and appointed him as the party’s head of international affairs.

Business Ventures

Nyanzi is said to have a number of business ventures in the city, including rentals that generate significant monthly income. However, his critics claim that he may also be receiving financial support from associates within President Museveni’s government.

Response from Nyanzi

When contacted for comment, Nyanzi declined to speak on the matter, promising to respond after concluding a meeting he was attending.
