In a significant step towards bridging Uganda’s digital divide, MTN Uganda’s philanthropic arm, MTN Foundation, recently handed over a state-of-the-art computer lab to Town View PEAS High School in Bugiri District. The lab, equipped with 30 modern computers, free internet connectivity, security cameras, and a reliable power backup system, is a valuable addition to the school’s infrastructure.

This initiative is part of MTN Foundation’s Digital Access Project, aimed at enhancing digital access and literacy across Uganda. By providing access to digital tools and resources, MTN Uganda is empowering students and teachers to develop crucial skills for the digital economy. The project will also provide internet connectivity to 29 additional PEAS institutions, further expanding its reach and impact.

The computer lab will enable students to develop essential skills in ICT, preparing them for the demands of the digital age. Comprehensive training will be provided to teachers, ensuring sustainable integration of ICT into learning. Students will also have access to the MTN Skills Academy, a free e-learning platform offering courses in digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and personal development.

This initiative aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the Digital Transformation Roadmap, underscoring MTN Uganda’s commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable development. By empowering students with digital literacy skills, MTN Uganda is contributing to the country’s efforts to develop a skilled and competitive workforce.

In conclusion, MTN Uganda’s donation of a computer lab to Town View PEAS High School is a timely and impactful boost to digital education in the region. This initiative has the potential to transform the lives of thousands of students, providing them with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital economy. As MTN Uganda continues to work towards bridging the digital divide, its efforts will undoubtedly contribute to a brighter future for Uganda’s youth.
