NMG Appoints Flavia Tumusiime to Lead Broadcast Division

By Dean Lubowa Saava

Flavia Tumusiime, a former presenter on WBS TV’s Teens Club show, has been appointed Head of Broadcast at Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda. According to sources, Tumusiime was appointed by the board last month, surpassing several senior managers who had applied for the position. She succeeds Johnson Omollo, who departed the station earlier this year.

NMG has restructured its leadership, replacing the General Manager position with Head of Broadcast. At 36, Tumusiime is one of the youngest individuals to hold a senior post in Uganda’s media industry. She will follow in the footsteps of Agnes Konde, who previously held the position from 2013 to 2017.

As Head of Broadcast, Tumusiime will oversee NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, and KFM, which collectively employ over 100 staff members. Her appointment has raised eyebrows, with some questioning her experience for such a senior role. However, colleagues acknowledge her strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.

Before joining NMG, Tumusiime worked as a news anchor at NTV Uganda and later joined Capital FM. She is married to Andrew Kabuura, the sports broadcast head at rival Next Media.
