Veteran journalist and former host of “Straight Talk Africa,” Shaka Ssali, is Dead

I’ve got some sad news to share with you. According to recent reports, Shaka Ssali, the veteran journalist and former host of “Straight Talk Africa” on Voice of America (VOA), has indeed passed away.

Shaka Ssali was a renowned Ugandan-born journalist who had an illustrious career spanning over two decades with VOA.

He was known for hosting high-profile interviews with African leaders and newsmakers on his show “Straight Talk Africa,” which covered topics ranging from politics and economic development to social issues and conflict resolution.

Details about his passing are still scarce, but it’s reported that he had been battling health complications. Shaka Ssali was 73 years old and had retired from active journalism in May 2021
