President Museveni Urges PDM Beneficiaries to Embrace Economic Empowerment

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today urged beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) to responsibly manage the funds they receive, emphasizing that the program is an investment in their economic growth.

“This is not a handout but a revolving fund meant to lift you from poverty. Use it wisely and repay it after two years so others can benefit,” Museveni stated during his visit to Kimbugu Village, Kikuube District.

Speaking to PDM model farmer Mr. Mpagazihe Jackson, who has successfully ventured into fish farming, the President encouraged other communities to adopt fish farming as a sustainable income source, especially for wetland dwellers. Museveni commended Mr. Mpagazihe’s progress, noting that even with a modest Shs 500,000 investment, he proved that fish farming is both profitable and environmentally beneficial.

The President contributed Shs 10 million to Mr. Mpagazihe’s project to enhance transportation and production, while also pledging Shs 50 million to the Catholic Church as a sign of support.

Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja praised the ongoing infrastructural developments in Bunyoro, including roads, a new airport, and a state-of-the-art stadium.

Mr. Mpagazihe shared his success story, highlighting how he turned Shs 980,000 from PDM into a thriving fish farm that now generates significant income, helping him pay school fees for his children and inspiring others in his community to follow suit.
