Museveni Hands Over NRM Flag to Faridah Nambi at Kawempe Rally

President Yoweri Museveni has handed over the NRM flag to Faridah Nambi, the party’s candidate for the Kawempe North by-election, at a rally in Kawempe Mbogo Muslim Primary School Grounds. Museveni urged the people of Kawempe North to rally behind Nambi, describing her as the ideal leader who will serve as a crucial link between the government and the constituents.

Museveni’s visit is seen as a last-minute push to bolster Nambi’s campaign and energize the party’s base in the constituency. The NRM is determined to capture the seat, which has historically been a stronghold for opposition parties.

Nambi, daughter of NRM Vice National Chairperson Moses Kigongo, has pledged to focus on socio-economic transformation, particularly supporting women and youth through initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the ‘GROW’ project funded by the World Bank.

The Kawempe North parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya on January 9, 2025. The by-election is scheduled for Thursday, March 13, 2025, with ten candidates vying for the seat, including NUP’s Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola and NRM’s Faridah Nambi.
