The Ugandan government has officially handed over the Kilembe Mines to Sarai Group Limited, an Arab investment company. This move is part of the government’s efforts to revive mining operations in the area.
Minister Ruth Nankabirwa confirmed the handover, marking a significant milestone in the government’s plans to revitalize the mining sector and creating employment opportunities to the locals as well.

The Kilembe Mines, located in the Western Region of Uganda, have been dormant for several years. The government’s decision to partner with Sarai Group Limited is expected to bring new life to the mines and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Sarai Group Limited, an Arab investment company, is expected to invest heavily in the mines, modernizing equipment and infrastructure to increase efficiency and productivity.
The handover is a welcome development for the local community, who have been waiting for the mines to be revived. The move is expected to create jobs, stimulate local economic growth, and contribute to Uganda’s overall economic development.
