Ntungamo Teachers Remanded After Assault on Student

Two teachers from Standard College Rwashamaire in Ntungamo District, Aneb Mwesigye and Naboth Twesigye, have been charged and remanded for assaulting a 16-year-old student, Brian Akampa, after accusing him of leaving school grounds without permission. The incident, captured in a viral video, shows the teachers flogging Akampa and forcibly restraining him after he tried to flee. The teachers were unable to present sureties for bail and will appear in court again on March 4, 2025. The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for severe punishment, including support from Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
