American Baseball player, Passed Away On This Day

Early Life

Born Henry Louis Aaron on February 5, 1934, in Mobile, Alabama, Aaron grew up in a poor African American community called “Down the Bay.” He was the third of eight children to Estella and Herbert Aaron.

Career

Aaron’s baseball career spanned 23 seasons, mostly with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves. He began in the Negro Leagues, playing for the Indianapolis Clowns in 1952. Aaron’s impressive skills earned him a contract with the Boston Braves, and he made his Major League debut in 1954.
