Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni Credits NRM Government for Boosting Coffee and Dairy Production

President Yoweri Museveni has praised the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government’s efforts in promoting coffee and dairy production in Uganda through the Operation Wealth Creation program (OWC). In a 7-page statement, Museveni highlighted the significant progress made in agricultural production, specifically in the coffee and dairy sectors.

Key Achievements:

Improved Coffee Production: The OWC program has played a crucial role in enhancing coffee production in Uganda.

Dairy Production Boost: Museveni, along with other individuals, has contributed to the growth of the dairy industry.

However, Museveni also criticized leaders of agencies like NAADS and UCDA for falsely claiming responsibility for the increased agricultural production. He described these agencies as “parasitic” and condemned the “sheer dishonesty” of individuals promoting “nonsensical tribalism” against the NRM.

Museveni’s comments come after his vow to crack down on corrupt politicians and civil servants during his State of the Nation Address in June 2024. The President has emphasized Uganda’s transformation journey to becoming a superpower on the African continent, citing the successful hosting of international summits.

The NRM government’s focus on agricultural development is expected to continue, with efforts to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth. As Uganda strives to become a major player in the global economy, Museveni’s leadership and vision will be crucial in driving progress.
