Uganda’s population has risen up to 45,935,046 people from 34.6million people in 2014, according to UBOS preliminary 2024 National Census results released today Thursday June 27 2024 in Kampala.
The census results mark an increase of 11.3 million people over the past decade and includes 780,061 refugees. The report launched by the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for public use, showed that Kampala city has the biggest number of residents totalling to 1, 875, 834 and visitors or those who were in transit amounting to 627,340 on the census night. Mbarara city has 251, 656 residents and 63,318 visitors while Gulu has 232,723 residents and 91,165 visitors and Masaka has 285,509 residents and 42,976 visitors. Hoima city has 141,442 residents and 48,633 visitors while Lira city has 246,437 residents and 57,620 visitors and Mbale city has 289,941 residents and 81,685 visitors.
