The Thanksgiving Gathering Of Mathias Mpuuga In Masaka Region Left Many Puzzled.

Mathias Mpuuga’s thanksgiving celebration in Masaka today attracted tremendous excitement and interest among his fans.

Over 10,000 people attended the ceremony, which was hosted in the Kitovu Sports Arena, including dignitaries like Buganda’s Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga.

The ceremony strives to recognise Mpuuga’s achievements to the community and public service while he is still living, rather than after his death.

Mpuuga’s supporters have praised his passion and service. Many Masaka residents regard this event as a celebration of his beneficial impact on the community.

Steven Ngobya, a local citizen, underlined how Mpuuga has been a pillar of support through numerous hardships. Many are excited to celebrate his successes though was not expected as such.

Politically, the ceremony has caused chaos, with some describing it as Mpuuga’s set effort to increase his political influence ahead of the 2026 general elections. The organising committee includes prominent members of both the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Democratic Party (DP), indicating a possible shift in alliances and political strategy.

During the ceremony in Masaka, Mathias Mpuuga made various promises to his followers. He highlighted his dedication to listening to and addressing the youth’s problems.

He promised to travel from village to village to connect with the people, ensuring that their voices are heard and considered in his political strategy. The effort is part of a larger campaign to preserve community support and mobilise voters ahead of the 2026 elections.

Mpuuga also spoke out against conflict within his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), emphasising his longstanding commitment to Uganda’s political struggle.

He presented himself as a seasoned politician who would not be influenced by internal party disagreements, claiming that his experience and resilience make him a strong leader. This corresponds with his broader goal of forming a new political front, which may suggest a shift in his political connections as he engages with members of broad factions, notably the Democratic Party (DP).

Overall, his supporters have praised the ceremony, seeing it as an opportunity to recognise Mpuuga’s leadership and contributions to the community.
