The Seven Unpopular Decisions Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Must Make

Opinion By Ivan Kimuli Kigozi

1. Establish a rival political party. Mr. Mpuuga possesses all the legal entitlements and prerequisites to establish a new political party; perhaps the only unanswered question is whether it will be able to surmount the obstacles that other newly established political organizations have encountered.

2. Run as an independent member of parliament. This is another chance for him to demonstrate his political prowess, but it also carries with it a great deal of political frustration following a defeat in an election.

3. Expresses regret to NUP. There is significance to everything we do. We have the ability to hurt, but we also have the ability to go in the direction of healing. Additionally, we open the door after we have apologized.

4. Goes back to DP. Given the current status of the oldest political party, Mr. Mpuuga can undoubtedly do great things, but he will need to be patient and willing to put in a lot of effort to regain complete control of DP, which is currently in a political marriage with NRM.

5. Proceed to NRM. Although he is the most disliked and far fetched, there are many examples of others who have crossed over to the NRM, so even if he does so, his finances will stay secure and he will continue to have political relevance.

6. Heads back to Mengo. Throughout history, there has never been a minister in the Buganda Kingdom who entered active politics only to return to service in a comparable capacity. But considering Mpuuga’s background he may have all the chances

7. Give up on active politics. This is the hardest and last option of all, but it is Worth making, especially if you no longer have a lot of options and influence.

OVER TO YOU HON. MATHIAS NSAMBA MPUUGA
