Internal Talks Take Place Over Former Arsenal Keeper To Replace Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal are reportedly internally discussing the possibility of bringing back a former Gooner to replace Aaron Ramsdale next season

Arsenal are flying high this season in the Premier League and could end a 20-year wait for their first title. Currently sitting at the top of the table with just a point ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand, the Gunners are hopeful that the Emirates Stadium will welcome its first league title since its inception in 2006.

One of the main reasons Arsenal have become so formidable is their defence, which has conceded a mere 28 goals in 36 league matches this season. The trio of William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Benjamin White has been immense, while summer signing Declan Rice has provided cover in midfield.

Another summer addition, David Raya, who joined on loan from Brentford, has been calm and assuring for the team. Upon his arrival, he swiftly replaced Aaron Ramsdale in goal and won the Premier League Golden Glove in his first season with the Gunners.

With Ramsdale losing his place to Raya, it looks increasingly likely that he will not sit around next season to be the number 2 at Arsenal, and the club is aware of his desire to move elsewhere in search of first-team football.

According to Darren on X, Arsenal are internally discussing bringing back a former experienced keeper ahead of the summer window.

Our sources understand the former player is Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny to replace Ramsdale next season. The 34-year-old experienced Polish star has been one of the finest in Europe for several seasons and continues to deliver strong performances for Juve. He is under contract until the end of next season

While Juventus acknowledge that Szczęsny is not getting any younger, they have been targeting other goalkeepers to potentially replace the former Arsenal man. Although they expect him to stay for at least one more season, they could be tempted to offload him at the end of this season. Arsenal believe he is one of the best-experienced goalkeepers in Europe at the moment and could push to add him to their squad in the summer.

Szczęsny knows all about Arsenal, having spent eight years with the club before eventually joining Juventus in 2017 after spending two years on loan at Roma between 2015 and 2017.

West Ham’s Łukasz Fabiański.

Another former goalkeeper who potentially could be on the list is West Ham’s Łukasz Fabiański. The 39-year-old spent seven years in North London between 2007-2014. Mikel Arteta could be interested in signing the experienced Polish international to play a similar role to Scott Carson at Manchester City.
