Government intelligence departments, including police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), are to resurrect criminal files implicating suspended Lubaga Division Deputy Resident City Commission (RCC) Herbert Anderson Burora in the multibillion fraud scandal, reliable sources have told Tv10 Gano Mazima Investigative desk.
According to sources there a number of fraud charges against Burora which had been suspended since he become RCC, but detectives have been instructed to review the cases now that he is out of the office.
Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, confirmed that suspended Burora is going to be subjected to further investigations on allegation of attacking the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among.
Kakande said that when Borora started attacking Among on social media, he was summoned by his bosses and cautioned but he continued hence his suspension. He clarified that as a public servant, like him there rules and procedures they have to follow when communicating on issues that involve their superiors.
Highly placed sources at CID, told TV10 GanoMazima that detectives are currently studying criminal charges on files opened against Burora since he was still Nakawa Division Deputy RCC.
Sources disclosed that among the pending charges against Burora, the sale of a piece of land meant for KCCA Youths along Success Motors Ltd, opposite Pepsi Cola, along Nakawa-Jinja road at Shs. 1bn.
Detectives are also studying a criminal file where Burora is alleged to have been involved in a land scandal where he attempted to evict youths who were dealing in flowers from their land around Wankonko in Bugoloobi after promising to sell it to a tycoon in Kampala.
It should also be recalled that Burora was also dragged in the fraudulent land transaction in Mutungo zone 4 Nakawa Division where he was later forced to compensate the owners of the land.
Borora, a former member of the Unemployed Brotherhood pressure group, was among the many Ugandans who condemned the alleged corruption and mismanagement of taxpayers’ money at parliament.
On Monday, Borora handed over Office boasting that he will continue fighting corruption in the country. He promised to brief the media on his next move on Thursday 21st March, 2024.
Burora who looked determined to fight back, threatened to expose opposition leaders who are in Among’s pockets. He accused the Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago of sealing multi-million dubious deals with Speaker Annet Among.
