Panic At Parliament As The Clerk Adolf Mwesige Summons An Emergency Meeting: Speaker Among Accuses VP Alupo For Spying On Her Office.

The Director for Communication and Corporate Affairs at Parliament Chris Obore has confirmed that his boss Adolf Mwesige the Clerk to parliament summoned an emergency meeting over the ongoing Uganda Parliament Exhibition on social media.

Makerere University lecturer Dr. Spire Ssentongo and journalist Agatha Atuhaire declared a social media expo on Parliament to expose the ongoing dirty deals which are costing the taxpayers heavily.

The exhibition has exposed how the former Leader of Opposition in Parliament and also the National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy president in charge of Buganda Mathias Mpuuga was awarded Shs500m for being a good Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

His party leadership led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) asked him to resign from the Office of the Parliamentary Commission, apologize to Ugandans and return the Shs500m which Bobi Wine claims was illegally awarded to him.

Mpuuga declined to honour the conditions given to him by Bobi Wine and other party leaders insisting that the money was given to him legally. It was not only Mpuuga who was exposed, his boss the Speaker of parliament Annet Anita Among, her deputy Thomas Tayebwa and other parliamentary staff including Obore himself were uncovered.

Appearing on NTV’s On the Spot talk show moderated by senior journalist Patrick Kamara, Obore revealed that Mwesige summoned him and other concerned bosses to strategies on how to counter the ongoing information that is being revealed to save parliament’s image.

Obore said that he advised his boss to first wait to take action against the ongoing expo until the initiators declare its end, then they will collect all the information posted on social media, verify it before forwarding it to the auditor general John Muwanga and the government accounting general for further investigation.

Obore welcomed the expo but insisted that there are a lot of forgeries which are all targeting the person of the speaker. He added that the speaker’s attackers are using the expo to malign her before the public.

Obore boasted that parliament through the parliamentary commission has powers to allocate any amount of money to any person once it establishes that it is fitting to do.

He also disclosed that the Shs500m was awarded to Mpuuga legally. He added that the issue of the parliament’s budget and spending is decided by President Museveni since he is the only one who allows whatever they do because he is the chief finance minister of Uganda.

However, highly placed State House sources told TV10GanoMazima that the big man is not happy with what is going on in parliament and very soon he is going to come out and comment on the matter as he did when ministers distributed iron sheets meant for the vulnerable people in Karamoja among themselves.

Even though Obore is boasting that they are in control of the situation in parliament, highly placed sources unveiled that his boss Among is at war with a section of her staff including those working on her media team who she is accusing of being spies.

Sources claim that Among is accusing her staff including former journalists, of working for her number one enemy, who is also the country’s vice President Jesicca Alupo and that she is using them to leak her official information to people like Ssentongo and Atuhaire.

“They lost morale. They have been over protecting her, but since she started accusing them of being spies, they are no longer responding to attackers against her on social media, they no longer want to appear on radio stations and television talk shows to defend her image and some are planning to resign,” a source said.

Since 2018, Among and Alupo have been at loggerheads and sources close to Alupo claim that Among facilitated her loss in the NRM parliamentary primaries for Katakwi district woman legislator and she decided to stand on an independent ticket.

In Bukedea, speaker Among, went through unopposed as the district woman legislator. Since then, she has built a strong political base in Teso region which is threatening Alupo’s political future.

Both Among and Alupo are eyeing former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga’s position as National Vice Chairperson for the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) in charge of women and Teso is their base ground.

The speaker’s team also accuses foreign affairs minister Gen. Jeje Odong, UPDF deputy Chief of Defense Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu of working with Alupo to put her down politically and they have made several allegations against her before the president.

Apart from Alupo, Obore cited a foreign invisible hand in the fight against his boss claiming that the American embassy in Uganda and the European Union in Uganda are facilitating the social media expo to embarrass Among and kill her reputation before Ugandans.
