The President of China H.E Xi Jinping started his European tour in Paris, where he met with President Macron. The two had last met last year in April, when President Macron had gone for a state visit in China.
Xi’s visit to Europe comes after close to five years without stepping his foot in the continent, with Possible challenging trade sanctions from the European Union due to some ongoing wars like that of Russia and Ukraine. The President Of China also held talks with the President Of The European Council Charles Michel and the Head of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen.
On Tuesday, President Xi was in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, where he met with President Aleksandar Vučić, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the NATO bombing of China’s embassy in which three Chinese journalists were killed.
Yesterday, the President of China arrived in the Hungarian capital Budapest, where the Country’s fighter jets escorted Xi’s plane the moment it entered Hungary’s airspace.
He is in the country for a state visit on the invitation of President Tamas Sulyok and he was welcomed by the Country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his wife at Budapest Airport.
This European tour is likely to solidify the existing relationship between China and these three countries since France is known to have had a long term diplomatic relationship with China for 60 years now, China being the biggest single source of inward investment in Serbia and the strong economic, diplomatic and security ties between China and Hungary.
