Val Kilmer A Hollywood Icon Remembered

Val Kilmer, the iconic actor known for roles in Top Gun, Batman Forever, and The Doors, has died at 65. Kilmer, who battled throat cancer in 2014, passed away from pneumonia in Los Angeles, his daughter Mercedes confirmed. Despite health setbacks, Kilmer returned to acting, notably reprising his role as Iceman in Top Gun: Maverick (2022).

Kilmer’s career spanned decades, beginning with Top Secret! (1984) and Real Genius (1985). He became a star with his portrayal of Iceman in Top Gun (1986), later showing his versatility in roles like Jim Morrison in The Doors (1991), Doc Holliday in Tombstone (1993), and a memorable turn as Batman in Batman Forever (1995). He continued to take risks with roles in Heat (1995) and The Saint (1997), and later voiced both God and Moses in The Prince of Egypt (1998).

Tributes poured in following his death, with Heat director Michael Mann praising his range, and actor Josh Gad remembering him as an icon. Kilmer’s unique ability to bring depth to any character made him one of Hollywood’s most unpredictable and unforgettable stars.

Kilmer’s final years included the 2021 documentary Val, showcasing his personal and professional life, including footage of him speaking with a voice box after surgery. His legacy lives on in his groundbreaking performances and artwork.
